Our journey to achieving the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Bronze Award (RRSA)
We are very proud this year to be working toward UNICEF SILVER AWARD. To achieve this, we must raise everyone’s awareness of the work UNICEF do to champion the rights of children across the globe. Our aim is to unite the voices of students, parents and carers and staff in order to promote this message and embed the ethos of a ‘Rights respecting School’ at Selly Oak Trust School.
UNICEF is a children’s charity that aspires to make living conditions better for children across the globe, regardless of their background.
This award aims to support schools in becoming ‘rights respecting’, ensuring all members of the school community pull together to better understand and support our young people to achieve the quality of life that they are entitled to.
Our long-term aim is for all students to be able to express their views on their own rights (please see link below for details of these), and feel empowered to act in order to better achieve these rights.
