International Hotels Group (IHG)

Selly Oak Trust School formed a partnership in 2024 with Crowne Plaza, Staybridge Suites, and Holiday Inn Express, all part of the IHG Hospitality Company. The partnership provides exciting opportunities and benefits for our school community.

Hospitality groups will get the following opportunities:  

• Meet hotel staff members who share their inspiring journeys into the hospitality industry and provided insights into what it’s like to work in a hotel.  
• Visit the hotels, insight into the hospitality industry, including the various departments that contribute to the smooth operation of a hotel.  
• Tour the hotel facilities, including guest rooms, conference rooms, and food and drink areas.   
• Learn about the roles and responsibilities of hotel staff in different departments such as reception, housekeeping, and food and beverage.   
• Understand the importance of customer service and the skills required to excel in the hospitality industry.   
• Participate in a Q&A session with hotel staff to gain deeper insights into hotel operations and career opportunities in the hospitality sector.  
• Work experience at the hotels during the normal school day.   

Success Stories so far...

Last year, Hospitality students (Year 13) successfully completed a six-week work experience program every Wednesday at our partner hotels: Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites. Addison and Corey secured paid summer positions at the Holiday Inn Express. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off!
