SOLAR

The Prevention, Support and Intervention team (PSI) work with our students, staff, families, feeder schools and outside agencies to develop positive and effective strategies to develop and nurture our young people so as to enable them to enjoy their learning and aspire, thrive and  achieve both in school and in the community.
We have very clear and simple rules that allow students to be 'ready to learn'. Sometimes though our students might need time out of the classroom to refocus or reflect on how they can engage in their learning and we have different ways that this support is offered.
For students who need a self-regulated time out, we issue ‘time out’ cards and have small sensory spaces that students can access as they need them, before returning to their lesson.
For students who need a longer time to refocus, or who we feel need to be in a more structured space, we have our fully staffed SOLAR support room. This is a multi-functional space that allows students to access mentoring and guidance, behaviour reflection interventions and focused curriculum work.
