College Placements

All students in the Sixth Form attend a link-course at a local college, one morning or afternoon each week, for one term.

This is an essential requirement of the curriculum, giving students the opportunity to experience vocational subjects in a large college environment.

Current links:

  • Queen Alexandra College
  • South Birmingham College

Vocational subjects currently offered include:

  • Car Valeting
  • Catering
  • Construction
  • DIY (including painting & decorating and brickwork)
  • Horticulture

College link courses are closely monitored.  In addition to the college teacher, each group has a full time member of staff from the school assisting the students both academically and with their social integration.

Facilities

The Sixth Form students have access to all the facilities within the school.

In addition they have dedicated areas for Sixth Form use only, at break and lunchtimes.  These include a Sixth Form Common Room, a quiet garden space and their own outdoor seating area with picnic tables and benches.

These dedicated areas help to promote social interaction during unstructured times, whilst developing their communication skills and forming friendships.
